Vegetables have the lowest antioxidant ORAC ranking in the natural world of food. However, I hasten to add that they have many other nutrients which research has found cure and prevent disease. Antioxidants are not the only nutrients we need to stay in optimal health. Green vegetables are full of chlorophyll and orange, red and yellow have beta carotene which has many nutrient values.

Even though spinach is not a high ranking antioxidant it is a super food. It contains many different kinds of nutrients. Here are a few. Carotenoid neoxanthin for prostate cancer. The flavonoid kaempferol reduces ovarian cancer risk by 40%. The flavone luteolin reduces ovarian cancer risk by 34%. Vitamin K for bone health. There are hundreds of research papers which have shown that popeye food protects the heart, the cardiovascular system, lowers blood pressure, is anti inflammatory and much more.
Do not neglect your vegetables. We need at least 5 to 9 servings of fruits and vegetables a day to maintain good healthy nutrient levels. Many people suggest even more are necessary in this highly polluted world we live in. ORAC food list
