Short term fasting has been around for centuries and advocated for not only religious reasons but also for overall health and well being. Hippocrates, the “father of modern medicine”, believed that fasting was the most effective way of keeping the body in a state of harmony and even today, the idea of a 3 day fast could go a long way to helping the body cope with modern day toxins that we get through environment and food.

Needless to say, the downside is the fact that a fasting diet in today is not really realistic.  Most people devote hours a day working and the thought of not eating when are co-workers are occupied feeding their faces during lunch may not be such a good plan.  Temptations occur and before you know it, the 3 day fast has become a 12 hour diet.

This is why a more toned down variation of a fast could be to remove the solid foods and just ingest food items which are very easily digestible and do not work the digestive process.  In this case, a 3 day juice fasting diet may do the trick.  

So how does it work?

Where the majority go wrong once they are incorporating a fasting program is the fact that they go into it immediately.  Fasting does have a couple of negative effects, with the vast majority of people complaining about constipation.  The best way to counteract this is to ease into a juice fast first by investing the first couple days consuming solely uncooked produce and fresh fruits.  This will help your body prepare for a few days with out solid foods.
What to drink on a fastStore bought fruit juicesneed to be left alone on account of the additional preservatives and sugars in the juice itself.  You can even need to water down the fruit juice.  Bear in mind, you are going through this to cleanse your body;  any extra stuff other than the juice of the fruit itself will cause more pressure on the digestive system.  Drinking juice is just a way to help you manage the hunger pains associated with a fast.

The right juices to take in are the kinds you probably aren’t acquainted with.  While apple and orange juice may sound better you will want to add chorella, wheatgrass and other green vegetables directly into the mixture.  The sweet fruits are meant to help make it a little more palatable.  Apple juices may be mixed with the vegetable juices.

Additionally, the short term fast will only help with immediate problems.  In comparision, a 3 day juice fast definitely will help to speed the recoveryrecuperation of a recent problem & is known to help you purify the blood.  In contrast, merely adding 2 more days could reinforce ones disease fighting capability.
